I was having a sartorial discussion with an associate the other evening, when the subject of double breasted jackets came up. He mentioned that someone he worked with once told him “Anyone under 40 in a DB suit= DB.” I couldn’t disagree more. If you’ve got a great fabric why not display even more of it, and besides being a classic look, it even keeps you warmer in the winter. Another misconception is that a double breasted coat makes the wearer look boxier, but if cut correctly, as is the example in the image above, it can actually be quite slimming.
